Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are there any specific pre-requisites to take the step 1 or online trainings?
A: No, we don’t have any requirements in order to take the training. We suggest you establish a yoga practice and come with an open mind, and patience for the teachings to seep.
Q: Do I have to already have a yoga certification or experience teaching yoga?
A: No, you don’t have to already be a yoga teacher.
Q: Can I start teaching kids after Step 1?
A: Yes, after Step 1 you will have what you need to begin teaching yoga to children. We suggest practice teaching with small groups.
Q: After Step 1 what do I need to do for certification?
A: You need to take Steps 2, 3 and 4.
Q: I see that for Step 2 there is a choice to take either the Yoga In Schools training or Pre-Grounded/Special needs training. What if I want both?
A. We would absolutely recommend taking both if you are interested in teaching all of these populations. However, you will still need to complete steps 3 and 4 for certification.
Q: How quickly can I get certified if I have no experience practicing yoga or teaching children?
A: Consider why you asked this question and what it is that you are seeking. That being said, we offer Steps 1-4 within the span of about 6 months.
Q: How long do I have to complete my training for certification?
A: We suggest trying to complete within a year so you don’t lose momentum.
Q: What Yoga Alliance credentials will I be eligible for after completing Grounded certification?
A: Our trainings each count as continuing education with Yoga Alliance. Also, our certification program (4 trainings) is approved by YA as a 95 hour specialty in children’s yoga (RCYT) if you have your 200 hour.
Q: It is impossible for me to travel to take a training. What are my options? A: We offer an online training that includes mentoring as you work your way through the course. Here are the details. In this course you will refine your teaching skills and understand Grounded methodology.
Q: Does the online training count for certification?
A: No, but it counts as 22 continuing ed hours for Yoga Alliance.
Q: How long do I have to complete the online training?
A: You have up to one year to complete the online training course. Some people have completed it within as little as 6 weeks. It will take you approximately 22 hours of time, including the practice teaching portions.
Q: If I already have a children’s yoga certification can I go straight into the Pre-Grounded/Special Needs training?
A: Yes, as long as you do not need the 95 hour certification from Grounded.
Q: When adding up the hours for all 4 steps, it only comes to 88 hours but certification is 95 hours. How do I get the other hours?
A: Only 87 face to face hours are required. The other hours are earned through independent reading and practice.
Q: Is the Teaching in Schools training accessible to younger elementary students?
A: Yes, we explore teaching elementary through high school students.
Q: I teach yoga to children and I am looking for more ideas. What can you offer me other than trainings?
A: We have several Grounded curriculums, each accompanied by recorded webinars to insure your depth of understanding and ease of use with the children you teach. Click here for more information.
Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: Yes, we offer early bird pricing which is a discount of $50.00. Since our program delivers an enormous value for the price, we don’t offer additional discounts. We do offer a payment plan of 3 or 4 payments once a month. Go ahead and register for the training you wish to attend but skip the payment part. Then, email Bruce@gogrounded.com to request your plan.
Q: Are lunches or lodging provided at the training?
A: No, we do not provide any food but you are welcome to bring your own lunch and snacks. We will take a long enough lunch break for dining out and provide water and hot tea. We suggest you google nearby hotels and let us know if you’d to be on a list to possibly share a room.
Q: I really want to be a Certified Grounded Teacher but I am unable to travel and do not see any upcoming trainings in my area. What can I do?
A: Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 678-362-9990 if you would like to host a training where you live. We even travel internationally!
Q:What is your cancellation policy?
A: If you are unable to attend a training we offer a refund minus $50 processing fee. If cancellation occurs within 7 days of the training, tuition is applied to another training date at any location within one year.
Q: Who do I contact if I still have questions about Grounded training?
